None of that matters now, though, because Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning is releasing on September 8th with no Elder Scrolls 6 in sight. Even with major names attached to the project, the timing was just off, and it couldn't save Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning's prospects. Skyrim was a mega-hit within a well-established franchise, and Reckoning was an untested new game. To casual gamers and even some RPG diehards, Skyrim and Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning were simply too similar. The timing of Kingdom of Amalur: Reckoning's release was its biggest mistake. Skyrim had come out only a few months earlier, and most people were still playing it. This means that the DNA of Elder Scrolls and Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning would obviously match closely, but it also served as a big disadvantage to Kingdoms of Amalur. Meanwhile, Oblivion's Mark Nelson was director. The lead designer of The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind and TES IV: Oblivion, Ken Rolston, served as game designer of Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning. It's true that Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning feels a bit like Elder Scrolls, and there's a good reason for that. How Kingdoms Of Amalur: Re-Reckoning Fixes An Old Mistake Mistakes were certainly made along the way, but one of the biggest problems was that the game released in early 2012, just a few short months after Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim became a genre-defining hit. The game was simply too ambitious in a lot of ways.

The road to the original Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning's release was paved with overly big ideas and excessive spending, all of which contributed in some way to its commercial failure. Related: Will Obsidian's Avowed Outshine Bethesda's Elder Scrolls 6? However, the game received positive reviews and still has a loyal cult following, so a new-and-improved Re-Reckoning makes total sense. Even though big names were attached to the project and the game had an energetic marketing campaign, the game underperformed and contributed to the bankruptcy of developer 38 Studios. It also felt incredibly empty at times, and a lot of people who played it couldn't help but notice it felt like an MMORPG without the massive multiplayer. The world of Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning was sprawling and felt like one of Salvatore's D & D novels come to life. It's got enhancements and new features, including a brand-new expansion after launch, but Re-Reckoning also fixes the original game's biggest mistake.

THQ Nordic is re-releasing the game as Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning next week. Install over top of this mod in the game folder for it to update the required files. However, despite selling reasonably well in its first few months, the game was considered a failure and bankrupted at least one of the companies that worked on it. Salvatore writing the game's lore and Spawn creator Todd McFarlane handling the artwork. The game had big names attached to it, including Dungeons & Dragons novelist R.A. It's helped. It's been almost a decade since the original Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning released for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360. It's all small nitpicking stuff, but whatever. Keyboard and mouse is somehow more awkward considering I play mostly with a controller and the game just doesn't seem to play the best without a controller. But playing the game through Origin does work, and while the Xbox 360 controller I have is comfortable enough, it's just not quite to my tastes when I play the game on PC. And as I've stated, there's just no way I can get a refund. I've read it's a region issue, but I don't think so. Maybe if the company that made the game were still in business, they'd have sorted out the bug or whatever it may be, but there's no telling. So I do want to give Steam a try, but again, I just don't know. I mean, I've troubleshooted, been on forums, and done basically everything I've been told to do.

I've always had pretty good luck with Steam, but nothing on Orgin seems to help, especially when you consider EA's shadiness.

So I have considered buying it on PS3 again, but I just don't know. My purchase history on PSN does show that I bought DLC for it, and I think I remember the DLC (a weapons/armour pack) showing up and working in-game on PS3. Now, I've beaten the game on PS3, so playing it is mainly for nostalgia these days, but I never got to try the DLC. Since about last year or maybe 2 years ago, though, I bought the DLC through Origin, and no matter what I've done, nothing I did could get it to work or show up in game.

It was like 20 dollars, but I wanted to try it on PC a couple years back when I bought it.

I bought it at Gamestop via a code I used to purchase online. I used to have the game on PS3, but I sold it a while ago.
